GD SugarLog — Privacy Policy

🔒 GD SugarLog stores all of your personal data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal information on any server we operate.

1. What This App Does

GD SugarLog is a personal wellness journal for tracking daily sugar readings, meals, and notes during pregnancy. It is designed as a personal organizational tool to help you log and share your own data.

2. Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal data. All information you enter — including sugar readings, meal entries, profile details, reminders, and targets — is stored exclusively on your device using your phone's local storage (AsyncStorage). This data never leaves your device unless you choose to export or share it yourself.

3. Data You Share (Your Choice)

The app includes optional features that involve sharing data — but only when you explicitly initiate them:

PDF Export: You can generate a journal PDF and share it via your device's native share sheet. You choose who receives it.
Email: You can copy contact email addresses to your clipboard and send via your own email app. We do not send email on your behalf.
Backup / Restore: You can export a backup file to your local storage or cloud service of your choice (e.g. Google Drive, Files). We do not receive this file.

4. Camera Feature & Google Gemini API

GD SugarLog includes an optional AI camera feature that can identify food items in photos. This feature requires you to set up your own free Google Gemini API key from Google AI Studio.

When you use this feature:

Meal photos are sent directly from your device to Google's Gemini API using your personal API key.
GD SugarLog does not receive, store, or have access to these photos or the API response.
Your API key is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to us.
Google's handling of data sent to their API is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

This feature is entirely optional. The app is fully functional without it.

5. Notifications

If you enable reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device. These are processed entirely on-device and do not involve any external server or data transmission.

6. Third-Party Services

The only third-party service this app may communicate with is Google's Gemini API, and only when you have set up the optional camera feature and actively use it. See Section 4 above.

We do not use any analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs.

7. Children's Privacy

GD SugarLog is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
